Sewing Rudiments 1

If you have always wanted to learn how to sew, then this class is for you. If you have never used a sewing machine or been a while since you used one, then come attend this workshop with me. This workshop introduces you to the anatomy of a typical sewing machine and how to get sewing including, bobbin winding, threading, stitch selection and sewing seams. Put your knowledge into practice with a simple envelope a bag pillowcase and a throw pillow cover. Register today and walk away with with confidence in your newly developed knowledge and skills and your very own first completed projects to cherish and use at the end of the workshop.

  • Learn the anatomy or a sewing machine.

    Learn how to use a sewing machine including winding a bobbin, threading the machine for top and bottom thread, changing a needle, changing feet, selection stitches and changing stitch length.

    Learn to use various sewing tools and notions.

    Cut and sew a envelope bag pillowcase and a throw pillow cover.

    Learn how to sew and secure seams.

    Learn how to finish raw edges of fabric.

    Learn how to create a buttonhole and sew on a button.

    Class sizes are limited to 4 students to ensure one-on-one time.

    Available in-person at my home studio at this time.

    Your fees include workshop registration, materials and in-studio use of sewing machines, irons, and notions.

    This event is only open to individuals 16+.

    Prerequisites: None - This is a beginner sewing workshop

  • This workshop takes place at my well-equipped home studio in Mississauga (address will be provided upon registration). My studio can accommodate up to 4 students.

  • Please notify us within 24 hours of the workshop if you need to cancel. All workshops are non-refundable, but we can provide you with credit for a future workshop or credit to shop online/in person. If you cancel within less than 24 hours or don't show up, you forfeit the cost of the workshop.

    This workshop will only run with a minimum of 2 students. In the event that we cancel a workshop, you will be notified within 24 hours and you will be offered a full refund or an alternative date to attend.
